Dress properly for the weather or for the occasion
A guide on how to dress to be comfortable and be dressed properly to avoid entrance denial while in Moscow and Russia
Russia is a country with pronounced seasons, travelling to Russian and Moscow can be enjoyable any time of the year - spring, summer, fall, winter - depending on what you're looking for. Surprisingly, big national holidays could be a problem for traveller seeking to enjoy the famous sights such as Red Square. We cover all these issues in the article.
Frontmatter, or preliminaries, is the first section of a book and is usually the smallest section in terms of the number of pages. Each page is counted, but no folio or page number is expressed or printed, on either display pages or blank pages.
The three-layer clothing principle followed by tourists and athletes also applies to everyday clothing:
Base layer (thermal underwear) for absorption.
Middle layer (fleece) for insulation.
Outer layer (jacket that shields you from wind and snow) for protection.
Dress Code when visiting a strict Russian orthodox church or a monastery (does not apply to churches that act as museums)
Children:
Athletic shorts, cutoffs, and spandex shorts are never appropriate church wear (for children or adults). Shoes should be clean and tidy. No T-shirts with any kind of excessive writing on them
Women:
Dresses should be modest. No tank tops or strapless dresses that would expose the back or low cut at the front. No mini-skirts. Skirts should be at knee or lower. If women wear pants to church, even though this is not preferred, should be dress pants (not jeans or leggins, etc.). Shorts of any type are not acceptable.
Men:
Coat and tie are not mandatory, shirts should have collars and should be buttoned to the collar (the actual collar button can be left undone, but two or three buttons undone is inappropriate). Torn jeans, with patches and loose fitting are not acceptable. No T-shirts or shorts.
Each page is counted, but no folio or page number is expressed or printed, on either display pages or blank pages.
Our dress code is smart-elegant. Jackets and collared shirts are preferred for gentlemen , long trousers and dress shoes are required. Sportswear and trainers are not allowed in the dining room."
Casual chic dress code means: no tennis shoes or sneakers, tie ok but not mandatory. I would suggest easy jacket, white shirt, pants. Locals dress well.
