The Kremlin Grounds and Cathedrals tour is a must-have of any travel program in Moscow. The Kremlin is especially beautiful in summer time, with blooming trees and many flower beds. In the old Russian language, the word "Kremlin" is a meant a fortress or a fort, and indeed the Moscow Kremlin is a giant medieval fortress in the center of the city. The Kremlin was built in the 1480s, and it features some of the oldest buildings in Moscow, and all of them are related to the Russian history. Before the catpital of Russia was moved to St. Petersburg by Peter the Great, the Kremlin was the residence of the Russian Tsars, during Soviet time the Kremlin housed the Supreme Soviet, and today it serves of the Office of the President of Russia.

After meeting with your guide at the location of choice, you will proceed to the Kutafia Tower and enter the Kremlin through the Trinity Gate. The itinerary of the Kremlin Grounds and Cathedrals Tour includes the following sights and landmarks:
  • The Arsenal (today it's the residence of the Kremlin Guards);
  • The Palace of Congresses of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, today known as the State Kremlin Palace;
  • The Senate Palace, now the Office of the President of Russia;
  • The Tsar Cannon, the biggest medieval cannon in the world;
  • The Tsar Bell, the world's biggest bell;
  • Cathedral Square and Faceted Palace (viewed outside);
  • The Grand Royal Palace (viewed outside);
  • The Kremlin Garden and the Oak planted by Yury Gagarin, the first man in space.

The Kremlin tour includes visits inside historical cathedrals and the Partriarch's Chambers:
  • The Cathedral of Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary that served as the coronation sight of all the Tsars for 400 years;
  • The Cathedral of Archangel Michael where the Moscow Princes and some of the Russian Tsars are buried;
  • The Cathedral of Annunciation of Virgin Mary (optional);
  • The exhibition in the Patriarch's Palace that showcases the 17th century lifestyle and has many precious exhibits of the Armoury on display.

Options that can be added to the tour (extra time and cost involved):
  • The Armoury Museum: Treasure of the Russian Tsars (the museum is located on the Kremlin Grounds) +2 hours;
  • The Diamond Fund Museum unassisted visit + 30 minutes.

At the end of the tour your guide will take you back to the location of your choice or book a taxi for you, you can also continue with a Red Square and City Center Walking Tour.
